West Encounters East®: The Fragility of Tradition Selected for the LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles
Miami, FL – September 11, 2025 – West Encounters East® is proud to announce that its latest documentary, The Fragility of Tradition, directed by Stella Holmes, has been named an Official Selection of the LA Femme International Film Festival, taking place October 16–19, 2025, in Los Angeles, California.
The Fragility of Tradition explores the resilience of Japan’s centuries-old Kōgei traditions while highlighting the groundbreaking women artists who are transforming them. From ceramics and metalwork to bamboo artistry, the film follows three extraordinary women as they challenge the male-dominated structures of their cultural heritage, proving that fragility and strength often coexist.
“We are honored to bring these powerful stories of women’s empowerment to the LA Femme International Film Festival,” said Stella Holmes, director of The Fragility of Tradition. “This festival’s mission to celebrate women storytellers beautifully aligns with the heart of our film.”
The LA Femme International Film Festival, based in Los Angeles, is dedicated to supporting and showcasing women creators from around the world. The inclusion of The Fragility of Tradition underscores the film’s relevance to global conversations on gender, legacy, and the evolving role of women in art and society.
The Fragility of Tradition continues the mission of West Encounters East to bridge cultures through documentary storytelling, illuminating voices that might otherwise remain unheard.
