West Encounters East®: The Fragility of Tradition Named Official Selection of the 13th Annual Fine Arts Film Festival (FAFF 2026)
MIAMI, FL — August 6, 2026. West Encounters East® is proud to announce that its latest documentary short, The Fragility of Tradition, directed by Stella Holmes and written by Linda Corley, has been named an Official Selection of the 13th Annual Fine Arts Film Festival (FAFF 2026). Presented by the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (ViCA), FAFF is recognized as the world’s largest art film festival dedicated to presenting films about how art is made, how artists survive, and the global power of creativity.
The festival takes place in person on September 5, 2026, at the Torrance Art Museum in Los Angeles, CA, and will stream worldwide online via Vimeo from September 5 through September 30, 2026. Selected from hundreds of international submissions across 31 countries, West Encounters East®: The Fragility of Tradition stands among a prestigious global slate honoring exceptional fine art cinema.
West Encounters East®: The Fragility of Tradition explores the resilience of Japan’s centuries-old Kōgei craft traditions through the compelling journeys of three extraordinary women artists. From ceramics and metalwork to bamboo artistry, the film follows these creators as they navigate and transform male-dominated cultural heritages, demonstrating how feminine willpower and artistic vision keep endangered traditions alive for future generations.
